vocals
« on: August 29, 2006, 09:24:40 PM »

so I was recording backup vocals today and really didn't feel like patching in an external preamp and comp....I have many to choose from and have been going outboard lately....then today i decided M470A and M466 with a U87....wow good times.  Put a smile on my face.  the limiters sucks ass, but the comp is so freaking sweet!  good times good times.  VIVA LA BECK!

The 466 limiters suck ass???? Not on the drum bus they don???t!! Get those suckers pumping just right and it???s thick as pea soup baby!

Yea maybe too obvious when they kick in on vox, BUT I???ve gotten great luck using it more like a squashing effect on over-the-top vocals or bass git (especially if aggressively played with a pick).

And I love the sound of the 466 comps as well.?? You can get them working hard yet they don't suck the life out of a track.

LOVE those comps too! But i admit enjoying the limiters A LOT on drums.. (rooms, drum buss) It feels like there's a little PYE something to them. Pumping in just right.
